Multiple Fire and Emergency crews are at the scene of a large blaze at a commercial shed and trees in Hillsborough.

Two helicopters have been called to the area.

Fire and Emergency received the first call just before 11AM to Port Hills Road.

Smoke from the area is visible from across Christchurch City.

Residents are being urged to keep their windows and doors closed as firefighters work to bring the blaze under control.

SH76 is Closed between Port Hills Road and Chapmans Road due to a fire.

Road users are advised to use an alternative route.
