Large scrub fire in Templeton

A large scrub fire has broken out in Templeton.

Multiple Fire and Emergency crews from across Canterbury have been deployed to the scene, including a helicopter.

The fire is off Meadowlands Road.

A Command Unit has been set up near the blaze.

Chris Lynch Media understands a firefighter has been taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

A shopper at Dressmart said she could see the flames from the roof car park.

“They looked pretty high.”

A police spokesman said police cordons were in place in the area.
