Interislander cancels two ferry crossings

Two crossings on the Interislander ferry were cancelled on Friday.

Duncan Roy, GM Interislander Operations said due to an electrical fault found while berthed, the Kaiarahi 1pm sailing from Wellington and 6.30pm sailing from Picton (10 November 2023) were cancelled.

The fault was discovered just before the ship departed Wellington.

Foot passengers were transferred to the 3.45pm Aratere sailing.

Passenger vehicles and trucks on Kaiarahi were unloaded after the departure of Aratere when there was room to accommodate them in the yard.

Customers were transferred to the next available sailing while our team fixed the issue.

Roy said “we have apologised to our customers for the inconvenience. We regret the disruption, but safety is our top priority in these situations.”
