24 hour surgery extending hours after staffing crisis
Christchurch’s 24 Hour Surgery is extending its opening hours as it moves towards a return to normal operating.
The hours will be Sunday 8am-midnight, Monday midnight - midnight/ (24hrs) Tuesday midnight - 10pm and Wednesday - Saturday 8am to 10pm
This will see 24 Hour Surgery open from 8am on Sunday until Tues at 10pm.
"We have had a successful recruitment campaign. As our newly recruited nurses complete their onboarding, we are pleased to be able to staff limited overnight shifts," 24 Hour Surgery clinical director Jasmine Mackay said.
"We have chosen to increase our hours based on the times when the 24 Hour Surgery andthe emergency department are typically busiest."
"We are aiming to progressively extend the number of nights we are open until we resume normal operating early next year," she said.
"We are taking a considered approach and ask for continued patience and support as unseen events, such a sickness among staff, could see temporary reductions ni those hours, as we move forward."
Please note that from Sunday 24 December to Wednesday 3 January, 24 Hour surgery wil not be opening overnight. Opening hours during this period will be 8am to 10pm each day.
