WINZ office in Shirley placed into lockdown

The WINZ office in Shirley was placed into lockdown this morning.

A police spokeswoman said police received information around 8:35am of a threat made over the phone towards a premises on Hills Road.

The person who made the threat does not appear to be in the vicinity the spokeswoman said.

“Police will be following up with the individual concerned.”

The Ministry of Social Development building was placed into lockdown for a short time.

When Chris Lynch Media visited the premises, there was a high security presence, with security guards taking photos of nearby vehicles.
