WATCH: Dramatic rescue operation at Arthur's Pass after car plunges into river


A dramatic rescue operation has taken place at Arthur's Pass National Park.

Emergency Services responded to a report of a car which plunged into the river off West Coast Road about midday.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said a helicopter and ambulance were called to the scene.

Footage sent to Chris Lynch Media shows the rescue operation with patients being winched to safety from the helicopter to the waiting ambulance.

Three patients were assessed by ambulance crews at the scene of all three were transported to Greymouth hospital in a moderate condition by ambulance.
