Two swimmers rescued from Waimakariri River

Two swimmers were rescued from the Waimakariri River last night.
A police spokesman told Chris Lynch Media two people swimming on the south western side of the State Highway 1/ Main North Road bridge were rescued at 6.45PM.
A St John spokesman said they were called to the scene but stood down by police.
The swimmers were rescused with the assistance of jet boats.
They were injured the police spokesman said.
