Pro-Palestinian protesters clash with Christchurch police

Pro-Palestinian protesters clashed with Christchurch police officers on Thursday night, outside a National Party event in the central city.

The demonstrators made their presence felt screaming at MPs as they made their exit from the venue at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens.

The Prime Minister was swiftly ushered into an SUV.

Tensions rose as the MPs made their way to their bus, with police forced to run onto Rolleston Avenue to keep a buffer between the vocal crowd and the MPs.

Video footage sent to Chris Lynch Media captured the moment police chased after protesters arresting at least one man.

Police were approached for comment.
