Police asking public for help in relation to fatal stabbing in Hei Hei

A 36-year-old man is due in Christchurch District Court this afternoon in relation to a man’s death in Hei Hei.

Police were called to the Wycola Park carpark around 1:50am, where a man was found dead with stab wounds.

Inquiries are ongoing to formally identify the man and advise his next of kin.

A police spokesman said officers are continuing to door-knock residents in the area as they piece together the events that led to the incident.

There will continue to be a police presence in the area while investigations are underway.

As part of their inquiries, police want to hear from anyone in the local area who may have CCTV or other video footage from overnight which may assist.

The 36-year-old man appearing in court this afternoon facing an assault charge, although it’s expect he’ll face more serious charges.
