Person injured in Upper Riccarton house fire

A person has been injured in a house fire in Upper Riccarton overnight.

Fire and Emergency crews were called to Homer Place just after midnight on Tuesday.

Crews from Ilam, Spreydon, and Wigram stations attended the blaze.

Fire and Emergency Shift Manager Jill Higgison said by the time the first appliances arrived, the house was well involved.

She said the fire started in the kitchen.

An occupant at the house was transported to Christchurch hospital with burns to their hands.

The house has been cordorned off.
