Person in critical condition following car fire

A person is in a critical condition after a car fire in Sheffield.

Emergency services were called to a residential address on Woodlands Road at 10.30AM.

A St John spokeswoman said St John was notified of a fire incident in Sheffield, Mid Canterbury.

They responded with an ambulance, a rapid response unit and a manager.

The person was airlifted by helicopter to Christchurch hospital in a critical condition.

Police were also called the scene.

A police spokeswoman said enquires into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
