Astronaut teases French colleague with incredible New Zealand space photos
Breathtaking photos of New Zealand have been captured by an astronaut aboard the International Space Station.
Denmark Aerospace engineer Andreas Mogensen tweeted the images.
“To celebrate the opening match of the Rugby World Cup between France and New Zealand, here are some photos of New Zealand that I took last night.”
He then made a cheeky reference to his French space colleague Thomas Pesquet.
“Sorry @Thom_astro photos of France will have to wait, along with your dreams of winning the world cup
“I would be happy to see Les Bleus (France national football team) win, except for all the gloating I would have to listen to.
On a totally different topic, Is it just me or does the South Island remind anyone else of Middle Earth? Mount Taranaki on the North Island was also very distinct from space.”
